Abdullah II

Abdullah II ibn Hussein has served as King of Jordan since 1999, following the death of his father King Hussein. Born in Amman in 1962, he was educated at prestigious institutions including Harrow School in England and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Before ascending to the throne, he had a military career in the Jordanian Armed Forces, eventually commanding the country's special forces. His leadership has been marked by efforts to strengthen Jordan's economy, improve education and healthcare systems, and promote dialogue and stability in the Middle East.

As king, Abdullah II has been instrumental in maintaining and developing Jordan's peace treaty with Israel, signed by his father in 1994, while also serving as a mediator in regional conflicts.
